How to make the Best Maruchan Instant Ramen Noodles

"Maruchan" is a worldwide instant noodle brand from Japan, and we Japanese really like to figure out how to make it taste better and healthier.

Today we experimented how to make the best maruchan seimen ramen!

How to make the best instant ramen

We actually have a lot of instant noodles, but today we will use a long seller ramen from Maruchan, "Maruchan Seimen Soy Sauce Flavor"(マルちゃん 正麺 醤油味)

Ingredients

  • sesame oil...2 tablespoons
  • minced ginger and garlic...preferred amount
  • Naganegi Japanese leaks...2 sticks
  • pork belly... 100~120g
  • soy sauce...1/2 spoon
  • salt and black pepper

Instructions

  • Spread 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a pan, and add the garlic and finger.
  • Once it's fragrant add green onions, and fry. Add pork belly seasoned with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

  • Boil 1 liter of water and put the noodles, cook for 3 minutes.
  • Have the soup prepared mixing the soup content in the ramen package with hot water.

  • Put the noodles in the bowl, and add the toppings.
  • You can have a taste of the soup, and add garlic, ginger, sesame oil to adjust it to your taste!

Key Points

  • Personally, I like to halve the amount of sesame oil I use and top it as a garnish. Heat reduces fragrance, so topping it will add more fragrance.
  • You shouldn't touch the noodles in the first minute as not touching them helps the noodles to have a smoother texture.
  • I don't really like the meaty aftertaste of the soup, so I will boil water separately for the soup. But you can remove the foam, from the soup when you cook the ingredients and the ramen, and use this as your broth for the ramen, too. It will have nice vegetables and meat dashi!

Today we introduced how you can make instant noodles taste better and healthier at home. We love cooking at home as we can cater the ramen to our taste. If you buy from the 5 ramen/pack, it will usually cost you no more than 300 yen, which is 60 yen/ramen. Especially when we don't have money, we like to try to improve the taste of instant noodles so we have fun while we try to save money.
